The ability to do a pull-up is not an indicator of climbing ability. I climb with guys who can do 30 pull-ups in a row who can't climb 5.10 consistently and girls who can't do a pull-up who climb 5.11+. Technique and really strong fingers get you much further than pure upper body strength. Now, if those girls did work on upper body strength they'd probably be climbing 5.12+.
